EFFECT OF VISCOUS DISSIPATION ON MHD MIXED CONVECTIVE FLOW OVER A VERTICAL WEDGE EMBEDDED IN A POROUS MEDIUM WITH NONUNIFORM SLOT SUCTION OR INJECTION
RESUMO
In this study, the effect of nonuniform slot suction or injection into steady mixed convection MHD boundary layer flow over a vertical wedge embedded in a highly porous medium has been investigated. The effects of viscous dissipation and Joule heating have been included in the analysis. The fluid is assumed to be viscous, incompressible, and electrically conducting, and the magnetic field is applied transversally to the direction of the flow. The governing boundary layer equations are transformed into a nondimensional form by suitable coordinate transformations. Nonsimilar solutions are obtained numerically by solving coupled nonlinear partial differential equations using an implicit finite difference scheme in combination with the quasi-linearization technique. Numerical results are obtained for different values of parameters to display the velocity and temperature distributions as well as the local skin friction and heat transfer coefficients. Results indicate that the skin friction coefficient increased with the magnetic field and permeability of the porous medium. However, the effects of magnetic field and permeability on heat transfer are very small. Both the skin friction and heat transfer coefficients increased with suction, while they decreased with increasing of injection. Comparisons with previously published works are performed and are found in excellent agreement.
