PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF FLAT PLATE PULSATING HEAT PIPES WITH MINI- AND MICRO-CHANNELS
RESUMO
This study presents the thermal performance of pulsating heat pipes with mini- and micro-channels. The pulsating heat pipes were made of stainless steel plate and brass plate, on which channels were grooved. The overall sizes of two kinds of pulsating heat pipes were 164 × 368 × 4 mm3 and 60 × 110 × 1 mm3, respectively. The pulsating heat pipes consisted of 32, 16, 8, 12, 6, and 3 U-turns with 1.6, 2.4, 3.2, 0.714, 0.875, and 0.941 mm hydraulic diameters, respectively. Distilled water was used as a working fluid and the effects of internal diameter, number of turns, filling ratio, and input power on the thermal performance were investigated. The filling ratio of the working fluid varied from 0 to 100%. The internal diameter, number of turns, filling ratio, and input power showed strong influence on the performance.
