HYPERSONIC WIND TUNNELS BASED ON PRESSURE MULTIPLIERS, PART II: CAPABILITIES OF HYPERSONIC WIND TUNNELS BASED ON VARIOUS SCHEMES
RESUMO
Various technologies of obtaining hypersonic gas flows (nitrogen or air) for aerodynamic research of aircraft models designed for various purposes and scramjet elements, which ensure a possibility of modeling of close-to-natural flight conditions in hypersonic wind tunnels (HWTs) at Mach numbers, M, ranging from 5 to 25, have been considered in part I of this paper [Kurshin, A.P., TsAGI Sci. J., 49(5):527–541, 2018]. Schemes of short-duration HWTs based on pressure multipliers for implementation of these technologies have been presented. Part II of the paper describes the basic methods used for determining the required characteristics of HWT elements at high and superhigh pressures of the test gas. The capabilities of various HWT schemes are evaluated.
