Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor at Physical Load with Different Mechanisms of Energy Supply to Working Muscles
RESUMO
Changes in the content of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were studied in the blood serum under oxidative stress and concomitant tissue hypoxia induced by physical load. The highest concentration of VEGF (from (122.8 ± 3.4) to (126.2 ± 4.1) pg.ml1) was detected in the representatives of sports with aerobic energy supply to muscle activity; and intermediate value was fixed in those with mixed mechanism of energy supply (102.4 ± 4.91 pg.ml1). In case of performing muscle activity without using oxygen, we observed the lowest value of angiogenic factor (78.5 ± 5.2 pg·ml1) among all surveyed athletes. In general, initial VEGF concentration in the latter even before the current load is higher than that in healthy untrained subjects. A statistically significant positive correlation between the degree of antioxidant protection and the content of angiogenic factor has been found. It has been concluded, that angiogenesis is a one of the mechanisms of adaptation to tissue hypoxia during physical load.
