RESUMO
The effective treatment of chronic pain and spasticity remains a most difficult task. Modern medicine, however, has provided many tools to manage these conditions, particularly over the last 30 years. In general, optimal treatment must be tailored to the individual patient if a successful outcome is to be expected. The following article is a review of both the medical and surgical management of chronic pain and spasticity. In addition, a comprehensive list of references is provided for an in-depth study.
