EFFECTS OF FLOOR LOCATED HEAT BARRIER ON CONJUGATE CONDUCTION-NATURAL CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER AND FLUID FLOW IN ENCLOSURES
RESUMO
The effects of heat barrier located in the thick floor wall of a square enclosure on conjugate conduction and natural convection heat transfer were numerically analyzed. The temperature of the vertical left wall is higher than that of right one of the enclosure while the horizontal walls are adiabatic. A thin heat barrier having infinite thermal resistance is located in the middle of the floor wall. Heatline visualization technique is used to visualize the heat transport in both solid and fluid regions. The thermal effect of heat barrier is presented by comparing the achieved results for the cavities with and without heat barrier. The calculations are made for wide ranges of Rayleigh number (103<Ra<106) and thermal conductivity ratio (1<K<100) while thickness of the bottom wall is taken as fixed. It is found that the effect of heat barrier is significant in the enclosures with high thermal conductivity ratio but low Rayleigh number.
