REFLECTION RESONANCES IN A RECTANGULAR WAVEGUIDE SECTION WITH TWO OPPOSITELY ORIENTED RECTANGULAR POSTS
Краткое описание
Purposive and controllable introduction of attenuation poles in the frequency response of a frequency selective device is among the most widespread techniques which are used in the course of designing modern filters with complex performance. This approach can be successfully implemented using rectangular waveguide sections with metal inserts. The study is aimed at investigating the scattering characteristics of sections with two oppositely oriented rectangular posts treated as waveguide structures with rotational symmetry. The results are compared with the characteristics of a section with two codirectional posts which structure is characterized by mirror symmetry. The resonance effects are interpreted with the use of the spectral theory of open waveguide resonators. According to the approach the reflection resonances supported by sections of the kind represent responses to excitation of natural oscillations at complex-valued frequencies. It is shown that application of the spectral theory makes it possible to improve by an order of magnitude (as compared with the conventional modal analysis) accuracy of estimating the basic parameters of the reflection resonances, specifically, resonance frequency and Q-factor. The obtained results provide the procedure of preliminary synthesis of frequency-selective devices on the basis of such sections to be more accurate and physically transparent.
