Electron-Wave Mechanism of the Smith-Purcell Radiation in Diffraction Radiation Oscillator
Краткое описание
The electron-wave mechanism of electron beam energy transformation into Smith-Purcell radiation in non-relativistic diffraction radiation oscillator (DRO) has been considered theoretically and experimentally. In the context of preset incident on reflecting grating (comb) of the electromagnetic field the directional patterns of Smith-Purcell radiation (diffraction radiation (DR)) have been defined and analyzed for the first time. It is shown that the structure and the shape of a directional pattern are primarily defined by dynamic parameters of electron beam (EB) which is formed by interaction of EB with surface diffraction harmonic field of the grating. Radiation excitation is explained by electron-wave mechanism of transformation of surface diffraction harmonic field of grating into space harmonic of DR body wave. The equation for DRO open resonator (OR) excitation is developed; the solution to the equation has been analyzed in a linear approximation. The obtained results explain series of facts revealed during the experiment, specifically, attenuation and amplification of electromagnetic oscillations in DRO, beating of oscillations excited in OR with the help of DRO and microwave signal from an external source.
