FLEXURAL BEHAVIOR OF JUTE-REINFORCED HYBRID MATRIX POLYMER COMPOSITE
Краткое описание
The present industrial requirements on a polymer material are its high specific strength, high specific stiffness, and eco-friendliness. An investigation was undertaken on a hybrid polymer composite to determine the influence of fiber reinforcement parameters like fiber volume and discontinuity on a hybrid resin (synthetic resin + natural resin) matrix under three-point bend test. The specimens were prepared for different values of reinforcement parameters and fabricated using a hand layup technique. The composite specimens were subjected to three-point bending load on simply supported pins according to the ASTM D790 standards. An analysis of the flexural strength was carried out according to the Taguchi statistical methods to draw the conclusion about the best possible composite constituents. This research inferred that improvement in bending strength would be possible with less number of discontinuities and with increased volume of fiber reinforcement in a composite.
