Within the framework of a thermodynamic approach, the value of the Flory-Huggins interaction parameter was estimated for asymmetric interphase layers on the polymer/carbon nanotube boundaries that takes substantially higher values than for the polymer/polymer pair. The value of the Flory-Huggins parameter is controlled by the integral structural characteristics of the nanocomposite — either by the dimensionality of the skeleton of nanofiller particles, or by the fractal dimensionality of the nanocomposite srtucture, which are interconnected by a linear relationship. The intensification of the interactions between the polymer matrix and carbon nanotubes, characterized by an increment of the Flory-Huggins parameter, results in the growth of the relative fraction of the interphase regions, which in turn leads to an increase in the nanocomposite reinforcement degree.
