Краткое описание

A rare freshwater species of brown algae, Heribaudiella fluviatilis (Aresch.) Svedel., was found in 2012 and 2015 in several localities of the Olkha River flowing in the south of the Irkutsk Region. This is the first record of this species in Siberia, the second in Russia (earlier it was cited for the Murmansk Region), and the third record in continental Asia. Heribaudiella fluviatilis is a holarctic species with an extremely disjunctive range, mostly known from northern and central Europe. It was also found in China, Japan, and western North America. This work describes the morphology and habitat conditions of H. fluviatilis in the newly found localities. Despite the ability to live in waters of a wide range of trophity conditions, the most optimal for the species are oligotrophic lentic water bodies, characterized by low values of water temperature and mineralization, weak alkaline pH, and high-oxygen content, in which the species occurs year-round. Heribaudiella fluviatilis is recommended to be listed in the next edition of the Irkutsk Region Red Data Book.
