Краткое описание

Deposition frequently occurs in a jet engine. It is a phenomenon that particles passing through a combustion chamber are melt, cooled and adhere to the turbine blade/vane and endwall. Since it is difficult to conduct the measurement because of the small size of droplet, deposition in a jet engine is still unclear, and thus the numerical studies are required. In the present study, we propose a numerical method to predict deposition in a jet engine. First, solidification of a high temperature droplet is reproduced, using the particle-based method. Based on the numerical results, spread factor of an impact droplet is formulated. Then, multi-physics CFD simulation is performed to a modeled turbine vane with cooling holes. Visualizing the numerical results, the characteristics of deposition on the leading edge of the vane is investigated. It is confirmed that the present numerical procedure can reasonably reproduce deposition phenomenon in a jet engine.
