Краткое описание

Mean flow and turbulence characteristics have been measured within the male and female rotors of a screw compressor close to the discharge port at two radial planes of αp=17° and 37°, and different radial positions, Rp. Cycle-resolved measurements of axial and tangential velocity components were made at a rotor speed of 1000 rpm using a laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV) system. The mean flow measurements revealed two distinct flow zones across the working chambers before and after opening of the discharge port which are referred to as zone 1 and 2, respectively. The flow in the first zone is controlled by the rotor motion while the flow in the second zone is greatly influenced by the discharge process. A third zone was also identified with male rotor near the rotor tip region, where the flow is influenced by the flow leakages through the gaps between the rotors and the casing. The RMS velocity measurements showed more or less uniform distributions with both angular and radial positions with an overall average value of around 0.3Vp for both components. These data have been obtained in great details to be used for validation of CFD models.
